How much I've lost

In 1990, one year after Cookie's death, Nan Goldin self-published a portfolio of 15 images she took of Cookie throughout their 13 year friendship. The portfolio was published in an edition of 25 and Goldin hand wrote a letter-like introduction for each. At the end of the letter Goldin writes, "I used to think I couldn’t lose anyone if I photographed them enough. I put together this series from the hundreds I took of Cookie during the 13 years I knew her in order to keep her with me. In fact it shows me how much I’ve lost."
